Hello babes! It’s insanely almost a wrap for 2021. This year has TRULY been such a blur, but it has been the epitome of a Godsend for me. I watched my life transform in so many ways as I stepped into motherhood, launched this amazing platform, published my first chapbook, and am now walking out many answered prayers every single day. It is truly by the favor of God that I was able to accomplish so much this year because if I can be honest with you guys, I planned for 2021 but not as well as I SHOULD have. There were moments toward the end of 2020 where I sat aside time to create game plans and vision boards for this year, but I should have started before the end of the year. I can only imagine how much further along those plans + my faith would’ve propelled me, yet I am very thankful!
Going into 2022, I am looking forward to accomplishing everything I set out to accomplish! I’ve realized that it is so important to be intentional about everything. It’s never going to be enough to SAY/WRITE/THINK about what you want in this lifetime. It’s imperative to wake up every day putting plans in motion to achieve those goals that we say aloud, think about, and write down. I wanted to share 3 helpful tips with you that I plan to also utilize to effectively reach every goal in the upcoming year.
Tip 1: Change Your Mindset
It is not uncommon to think of a new year as a “fresh start”. For me (maybe you too), when I hear “fresh start” (used in context of a new year), I see a histogram. This histogram increases beautifully but then eventually reaches a plateau and maybe even begins to decrease in consistency. We don’t want to be a histogram lacking consistency when it comes to our goals!! With it being November, it’s a great time to pick up momentum that should, in fact, SPILL OVER into 2022! If you’re reading this, the top of the year will no longer signify the chance to “start fresh” with your goals. Whether it be your goal to book the gig, lose 10 lbs, write the book, or save $10k, the New Year will be the chance to continue the strides, and even pick up the momentum, as you press toward your heart’s desires! This is not to negate the fact that sometimes fresh starts are needed but it is to ensure that we remain consistent throughout the year in our efforts to effectively accomplish everything we want to accomplish!
Tip 2: Create a Plan
I am a firm believer that planning allows one to smoothly (sometimes) tackle the things ahead. Yes, sometimes life throws curve balls that we cannot possibly plan for, but it is important that for our goals, we create a plan to execute them. Proverbs 29:18 states “Where there is no plan, the people perish”. THIS, my friends, is so UNIVERSAL (y’all know I love applying a scripture) and can be applied to our goals as we progress through the end of this year and into next. Planning will not look the same for everyone. For some of us, creating a plan may look like strategic decorating on a vision board but for others, it may look like equally strategic “to-do’s” tucked away in a day-to-day planner. No matter how you decide to tackle your goals for the upcoming year, your level of success hinges on your willingness to plan. Take it one day at a time and approach each day as another opportunity for progression.
Tip 3: Cultivate Healthy Relationships
It is imperative that we check our circles from this day forward! It can be difficult to reach the next level if we are closely connected to Negative-Nancies, unsupportive spectators, and Lazy Larries. We must surround ourselves with people who not only believe in our vision and want to see us succeed but are also hungry go-getters as it relates to THEIR goals. We NEED to be in relationship with people who speak life over our goals and dreams. Its empowering and can provide that extra push when we feel all but motivated. As this year is ending and we continue to work towards the life we deserve, consider your connections as they are just as important as your mindset and your game plan.
Achieving our goals is no longer negotiable. As we bid farewell to 2021, lets prepare to take 2022 by storm! We will no longer talk about the things we want to see take place in our lives, but we will do the best we can to effectively obtain and attract what we desire. It is my hope that you find the above tips useful as you get ready to embark upon another year of success. No matter how big or small the goal may be, remember to adopt the correct mentality, establish a game plan, and to maintain healthy connections!
Buckle up, baby!
