The man has done it again. Aubrey Drake Graham gave the people what we needed with highly anticipated album, Certified Lover Boy. With features from some of the heaviest hitters in the music industry right now, this album leaves no emotion untouched, with tear jerkers like “Yebbas Heartbreak” to head bangers for the club like “Way 2 Sexy”. All in all, Drake successfully delivered yet another amazing body of work.
Drake has built a notable career with a marketing team to match. Leading up to the album release, Drake gave the world a peak into what was to come with CLB; announcing features on Billboards in Nigeria, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, and California to name a few. How incredibly unheard of is that? He, along with his team, managed to further capture the attention of people from coast to coast and beyond. Undoubtedly, Drake sent a wave of anticipation across the nation, gaining the ears of listeners before the project ever dropped.
This…was one of the most effective methods of promotion.
I like to think of good promotion as beautiful wrapping paper with an equally as beautiful bow. It’s almost as beautiful as the present itself and has the potential to draw attention from anyone relatively close to the gift, even if the gift isn’t intended for those its presentation has attracted. While Drake worked strategically with his marketing team to promote said masterpiece, how many times do you think he contemplated NOT posting on his Instagram or Billboards, for that matter, because of fear of opinions of others? I’m almost certain the answer is ZERO!! Drake went BIG with promoting his album because he knew the benefit would far more outweigh those (if any) who may have been tired of seeing or hearing about it. CLBs amazing marketing has already inspired OTHER brands like Fashionnova, McCormick Spice, Maury and many more!
The message behind this short and sweet blog is crystal clear. GO BIG FOR YOUR BRAND without regard for what others may say or think. You owe it to YOURSELF. We are oftentimes hesitant to promote ourselves because we are worried about the amount of likes and shares we may receive or whether others will be receptive. Trust me, the benefits are greater than any risk. Furthermore, you have no clue who you’re inspiring as you continue building and believing in your brand. Take this blog post as your sign to continue promoting yourself no matter what! THE RIGHT AUDIENCE will be drawn to you and at the intersection of perfect timing and consistency, your brand will FLOURISH.
With love,
